Statistical Thinking for Leaders
| This workshop is not a seminar in statistics…we won’t be calculating any standard deviations or conducting any hypothesis tests. Instead, this workshop is designed to help managers and supervisors collect better information and use it to make better business decisions. We’ll discuss what makes good metrics, what makes good measurements, and how to interpret some of the basic tools for tapping into the voice of important processes as a basis for sound action. The workshop will contain examples from manufacturing and service processes. Basic statistical concepts will be demonstrated in real-world, hands-on exercises that allow for quick grasp and deep understanding. We’ll discuss the use of process behavior charts, basics of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability concepts, the Taguchi Loss function and its ramifications, and the dangers of tampering with stable processes. |
